Meet Anita Warm, Personal & Story-Driven Ceremonies

Rooted between the Sussex coastline and countryside, I create ceremonies that feel warm, personal, and gently theatrical in all the best ways. Ceremonies where people laugh through tears, where families feel held, where stories come alive.

How I Became a Celebrant

Where It All Began

I've always been a storyteller. From piano recitals and dance competitions to pantomime roles (often as the cheeky back end of an animal – the mischievous half that no one notices until it goes delightfully wrong), I learned early how to create atmosphere, spark connection, and bring joy to a room.
Alongside my creative life, I built a career in HR, listening deeply, supporting people through big feelings, and helping them feel seen. Those skills became the quiet foundation of the celebrant I would one day become.

The Moment Everything Changed

When my dad died in 2020, I stood up and delivered his eulogy. I spoke from the heart about his humour, his quirks, his love. For the first time, I felt the full weight and full beauty of what it means to honour someone's story. After the ceremony, the celebrant turned to me and said, "You know, you could do this as a job."

Something in me shifted. It was as if a door opened that I didn't even know was there.

I attended a friend's wedding. Two registrars officiated, and the whole ceremony was over in fifteen minutes with no passion or personal touch, no sense of who the couple really were. My husband nudged me. Friends whispered the same thing: "You could do a better job than this."

And again, that quiet nudge.

Finding My Calling

I carried that moment with me. I found myself craving creativity again, not squeezed into evenings or weekends, but woven into my everyday life. I wanted to work with people in a way that felt meaningful, joyful, and human.

When I discovered celebrancy, everything clicked into place. Here was a role that allowed me to write, perform, listen, guide, support, and create all at once. A role where my theatre background wasn't a quirky footnote but a superpower. A role where my HR experience became the foundation for emotional intelligence, trust, and genuine connection.

I trained with the Academy of Modern Celebrancy in all three disciplines: weddings, namings, and funerals. And the first time I stood in front of a couple and told their story, I felt something settle in me.

This is it, I thought. This is what I'm meant to do.

My Approach At the Heart of My Ceremonies

I bring a sense of ease and gentle creativity to every ceremony, shaping moments that feel alive with personality and connection. I love using music, movement, and small, meaningful gestures to draw people in. My ceremonies are story-rich, warm, and gently theatrical, balancing tenderness with joy.

At the centre of my work is light-filled connection: that gentle, glowing sense of being truly seen and understood. Every ceremony begins with deep listening. I take time to uncover the stories, emotions, and small significant details that make each person who they are.

My guiding value is simple: everyone deserves to feel held, honoured, and supported during life's most meaningful moments.

I Love What I Do

Every ceremony I write is a little piece of my journey: the piano-playing little girl, the competitive dancer, the theatre kid, the HR listener, the daughter who stood up to honour her dad, the woman who believes deeply in the power of marking life's moments with intention and heart.

This isn't just my job. It's my calling, my craft, and my joy.
